LESSONS - HORSE BOARDING
Inukshuk Farm is a boarding and lesson stable owned and operated by Janice
and Miles Ecclestone since 1997. Inukshuk clients cover a broad
spectrum of disciplines including AQHA showing, dressage, jumping
and trailriding. Our goal is to provide a professional yet social
atmosphere for competitive and pleasure riders along with a
comfortable, safe environment for their horses and our school horses. Our lesson program has an experienced coach and excellent horses!
COACHES
Frances Ford, Certified BHSAI (EC level 1 coach equivalent). We are very pleased to have her as a coach at Inukshuk. She has coached students in the UK, in California, at Bethany Saddlewood and is now freelancing at various stables throughout our area. We are pleased to have her experience and talent as she brings both young and mature riders from beginning levels to advanced levels.
INUKSHUK GOALS AND OPPORTUNITIES
We are very proud of a wide range of activities at Inukshuk including a limited lesson program, a small group of terrific horse boarding clients and regular clinics with terrific learning opportunities. In 2012 we plan on attending a few local schooling shows, as we did in 2011 to give our students and boarders and opportunity to compete. We also offer partboard opportunities to our lesson clients so they can "almost" own their own horse without the full expense.
Our school horses include Chakote (winner of the Dressage Novice Level for the 3-show Triology 2011 Series), Dallas (known as the BEST beginner level small horse ever and who also competed successfully for 2-riders in the Trilogy 2011 Series winning 2nd overall for Maddy Mahony (picture below) in combined Stadium and Dressage test at her first ever!! horse show! Chloe (only 7 years of age) competed on Dallas successfully with big ribbons and placings in both Stadium jumping and Dressage tests. We also have Jake (7 year old reg'd QH gelding) who has become very popular with many of our young and adult riders, and Mickey is our Haflinger who also competed with an adult rider, Frances Kitchen, in the Triology series winning a 2nd overall for jumping and dressage! Our horses are not only winners at home but also winners at the shows. We will be competing in 2012 and our students are already looking forward to it. We also have our Benny, a QH gelding who is terrific for our beginning adults ... All our horses also go on hacks weekly in the summer months ... they are show quality but pleasure trained! Our boarders have the extra perk of being able to ride our school horses (at no cost) if their own horses are not trail safe, on our weekly rides.
We
chose Inukshuk as the name of our Farm because of the following
meaning and also to acknowledge Miles’ two decades of research (on
glaciers) in the Canadian Arctic.
The
Inukshuk (pronounced IN-OOK-SHOOK) meaning "in the image of man",
are magnificent lifelike figures of stone which were erected by
the Inuit people and are unique to the Canadian Arctic. Standing
across Canada's North, they endure as eternal symbols of
leadership, encouraging the importance of friendship and reminding
us of our dependence upon one another.
Below is a 2011 photo album ... hope you enjoy a virtual visit to Inukshuk.
